Nadja Baier

Guess who that is? The German student who will be staying with us for 17 days starting next Tuesday, Oct. 3rd. We are all really excited and also quite nervous. She will be sharing a room with Leslie, so hopefully they will get along! She will go to classes with Leslie and also do quite a lot of sight seeing in the vicinity, without Leslie, just the German students and their teachers. And the farewell dinner is going to be at our church, so we'll be extra busy for that. If you're in the neighborhood, please stop over and meet her. She is from Fulda, Germany and is the same age as Leslie. Next summer Leslie will be going to stay at her home in Germany. Sound familiar Betsy? Anyway, today is my day off, and I feel the need to really clean the house. I'm inspired by Betsy!
So that's our big news, and since I can't remember who I've told already, and often have trouble thinking of something to blog, here it is. Now you know. Have a great weekend!
Love Chrissie

HELLO?

So, it seems that whenever I "comment", no one else writes for a long time. I guess I must be the best blogger/commenter ever and I must intimidate all of you right? (maybe getting you mad will get you to write?? HELLO. . . IS ANYONE OUT THERE?

Did you all see the clips of Bill Clinton taking on Chris Wallace (Fox news) for all the lies about how he hadn't gone after Bin Laden? He was SO PISSED! It was great to see a Democrat really fighting back.

Have any of you seen Studio 60/Sunset Strip by the guys who did West Wing (with many of the same actors - Bradly Whitford, Matthew Pery, etc. ). It's like backstage at Saturday Night Live. I really liked it.

Betsy, hope that the party goes well!

Can you tell that I'm done with my Parents Go to School Nights? YEAHHHHH!

LOVE ya all,
Deboe B. J.

Wasn't it great!!

Did y'all see Bill give it to fox news?? Wasn't is great?? Although, he was waving his finger...that triggers bad memories.

On another note, have you noticed that Joannie, Chrissie and Lindsay are each facing to her right, while Debbie and I are facing to our left. Perhaps your true political leanings are showing through??? Are you 3 part of that right wing conspiracy?? Fess up??

Oh yeah, way to go Packers!!! We knew you could win one!!!

September 11, 2001-Where were you?

So, do you remember where you were on that day? I was on the Roosevelt School playground talking to the other moms after dropping our kids off, and someone said "Did you hear that a plane crashed into one of the twin towers in NYC?" I thought how odd, that if a plane were in trouble, wouldn't it stay clear of a major building? I went upstairs to the library and watched for the next 1/2 hour with the Librarian and the Principal and was in shock. Then they said another plane hit the other tower. I remember thinking "how wierd is that? How could something like that have happened twice?" My mind was not programmed to think of any possible scenario where that could have happened. When they said the first tower "collapsed and is gone" I remember thinking what do they mean that it is gone? How could it be gone?

Life will never be the same. What a horrible day.

Ryan is SICK of school!!

Well, just when I thought it was safe to work and play without having to worry about my loving children...(Tuesday, first day of school) I get a call from the school nurse at work around 12:15. Ryan has a sore throat. They had encouraged him to wait through lunch, but he still feels sick.

I spoke with him, and although I suspected he was faking, I picked him up and had him tested for Strep, since I just went off the antibiotic for it. Well, the rapid test came back negative. I brought him home and observed him. I forced him (I'm talking with full threats and temper tantrums) to read a chapter in his book and go through his math triangles. He is a good actor, but he also has too much energy to continue "acting" sick for too long. He did not suddenly break into energy and joy as the night went on, in fact he was acting sicker. So I became certain that he really was sick.

I called this morning and the doctor's office confirmed that the over night culture came back positive for strep. So our Ryan boy missed the last day of school due to chicken pox and he is missing 2 1/2 days of the first week of school due to strep.

ARRRRRRGGGGGGG!! Now...is that a soar throat I'm feeling...or am I imagining it???

DOUBLE ARRRRRRRRGGGGG!!!!

How is life going with yous guys???

Summer's over, School's back in session ... NO WAY!!

I can't believe it!! The summer season isn't officially over until the 23rd of this month but I feel that summer went by way too quickly this year. Eric and I were so busy this summer with family graduations, weddings, family gatherings and what not that before we knew it - summer is pratically gone. Oh well, hopefully next summer won't be this crazy and we will be able to actually enjoy summer.

So today was the first day back to school. I bet the parents are going "Woo Hoo!!" but also felt a little sad. Today was my sister's first day at High School at East - I talked with my mom earlier this morning and mentioned that Aly was very scared. I don't blame her. She really doesn't know anyone besides Leslie and Julia (and even those two she doesn't know that well). I hope her first day went well.

So how was everyone's beautiful Labor Day weekend? The weather couldn't have been nicer, except for yesterday's rainy and dreary weather. Saturday was our landlords, Nina and Garrett's wedding which was very beautiful. The cermony took place at St. Hedwig's/Three Holy Women Parish and the reception was at the Wyndham's Grand ballroom in downtown Milwaukee. All was very beautiful and they were so happy!!! On Sunday I joined them and others at her mom's house to watch them open gifts. They received some pretty nice gifts!! And now they are off to Antigua on their honeymoon!! They left at about 5am this morning and won't be back until next Tuesday. I hope they have a blast - they have been so stressed out due to planning and getting everything ready for the wedding so they deserved this much needed vacation. So while they are gone we get to watch and feed their fishies and take in their mail. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Anyway, I should get back to work - I hope everyone has a great rest of the week if I don't talk to you sooner!!

Hugs to everyone!!

Maggie's a Hawk

Hi all,

Just a note to let you know that Maggie had her first practice with her soccer team...the Hawks. Well, this girlie girl with her pink ball is just loving being a soccer player. Look out soccer world...

Oh, and if you are wondering...just because I have both kids in soccer and I'm enjoying it...does NOT make me a "soccer mom." I am just a mom whose kids "happen" to be soccer players.

I'll email their game schedules...but I don't expect you to drive around town to see them...but in case you are in the neighborhood and want to see some soccer...

Love all y'all!!
