Excited about laundry??

Well, I too am feeling the end of the year stressors. I'm doing so much volunteering at the kids' school (I'm seeing Seussical -again- tomorrow with Maggie's class this time). But Friday, I was soo looking forward to Friday. I did not have to work. I was not volunteering for anything. I could actually take the day to do the piles and piles of laundry in my basement. I mean I could actually fold them before they sat in a basket for hours (or days) and possibly put them away the same day. I know to many of you this doesn't sound like an unusual thing, but to me...this would be wonderful. This was my plan until Maggie's teacher called me. She chose me out of all of the 23 sets of parents, she chose me to call to see if I could help her put together an end of the year scrap book for each of the kids. Yes, the very thing Deboe was discussing on Monday. Ryan has a book from Mrs. L. from his SK year. I want Maggie to have one too... How could I say no?? I'm volunteering at the school on Friday. So, do not be surprised when my clothes are wrinkled...

Chrissie, your trip will be wonderful.

Lindsay, let us know when your computer is up and running.

"So much time, so little to do, strike that, reverse it!"

After a great weekend of family and food, I'm starting to get nervous about vacationing for three weeks! What to bring, what not to bring, what food will travel best, will our reservations really be there when we arrive, will the Vue be able to pull the pop-up, will be be too cramped in the Vue, yadayadayada. And now with school wrapping up there are so many "lasts" to experience. I am really feeling unsettled. But probably not as bad as Lindsay, who is moving today!!!! She is really feeling unsettled, I bet. I hope all goes well.

So that's where I'm at today... How's everybody?

Let's try this again

O.K. My walk/running shoes are more like this, but not exactly. They are VERY light weight and not that durable. They are designed for someone with a high arch, like me, who tends to supinate (my feet tend to want to roll to the outside of the foot that can cause broken calcaneous -heal- bone and sprained ankles.)

Aren't you glad I'm learning to blog...

Can she be taught...

OK here goes. I want to practice linking... so if you are dying for a puzzle fix, now you can find a sudoku puzzle any time you need one. Hope this works...

Links

To post a link:

On top of the "Dashboard" screen where you type your post there is a funny little button that looks like a green circle with a piece of chain on top. A link of chain, if you will.

So say I want to have the words "true love" be a link to a certain website. I copy the link to the website I want. The I type the words into my post.

This is what true love looks like.

Then I highlight the words "true love" with my mouse, click the "link" button, and paste in the address of the website I want to go to. It will put all kinds of craziness into your post (this is the html code, which you can learn and type in manually if you don't want to use the button), but when you publish it, it will look like this:

This is what true love looks like.

This completes your link tutorial. Good job!

Music Coordinator

Hi All,

I could have sworn I'd sent something out, but for those of you who haven't heard...The WGPC Session voted unanimously to appoint me as the new Music Coordinator. I have many responsibilities coordinating (hence the name) the music for our services, with one of my responsibilities being to conduct the adult choir. This is a year round salaried position. Yipee for me!!

The worship committee has requested that the Simon Family Singers sing again this year. They are completely O.K. with us singing the same songs. Would people be willing to sing at WGPC on Sunday August 20th this year?? Let me know and we can plan accordingly!!

As for the rest of my life...I'm volunteering all the time at R*osevelt Elementary School. I keep twisting my bad and now also my GOOD ankle. They are both sore...so I've gone back to only wearing my incredible asics walk/running shoes that are specifically designed so that I can't twist onto the outer side of my foot. Somehow I keep thinking that my main problem is this excess weight I've put on...It's like my ankles and feet can't handle it. So, I've starting walking to get exercising...but now that's on hold because of my ankles. ARRG!!

WWJD

WWJD
So there was an ad for a company that sends out gift baskets on TV this morning, and this was their line: "Whoever said it was more blessed to give than receive never got a basket from Past Bask*t!" Man, what was Jesus thinking?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was born too soon to understand the real meaning of life!

Well, we are now $1,100 more in debt, but our van is 100% more drivable. New swaybar in front wheel, new seals to prevent leaking oil, new brakes, and new oil and filter. Sounds like $1,100 worth to me, how bout you? But it works, and I now will be comfortable driving up to LU next weekend.

Today is my last afternoon class with my little Chinese boy, Young Young, who has become quite Americanized in a few short months. He brought the MESSIEST cupcakes yesterday, and when the kids (at my prompting) said "thank you Young Young for the cupcakes", he stood up, spanned his pointer finger across the 2 tables, and said,"You all my friends!" Then when someone else said,"These are the best cupcakes," he replied, shaking his pointer finger,"EVER!" It's been hard work, but he is so darn lovable. They are moving to New Berlin, so he won't be coming back next year. I have my last morning class tomorrow, then meeting, then picnic on Friday, then cleanup all next week, and then I will be done! Hurray!

Okay, TTFN !
Love, Joannie

I'm feeling old...

Wow, I can't believe I'm actually blogging!!!! I'm not sure how actually to make the best use of it, but I'm sure that will come with practice. I've set it up at work also, so I should be able to blog whenever the spirit moves me. Thanks Lindsay! Love the name! Now somebody pick a topic...

Peace and Love

I am just back from the 4th annual West Granville Women's Retreat. I am extremely at peace, well stretched (we had a yoga instructor come and work with us for over an hour), and mighty proud. You see, I was the leader/facilitator on Saturday and I am very pleased with how things turned out. These WG sisters of mine ranging in age from 43 - 68 are truly angels and I feel blessed to be able to call them all my friends. We laughed and cried. I really never thought I would find a church that I would truly feel at home at and a part of. Boy was I wrong.

On another note (pun intended) I am now the new "Music coordinator" at WGPC and am FINALLY earning a SALARY!!! Yipee. Thank you all for your support, encouragement and advice as I struggled to find a way to request payment without sounding too much like a bad Christian.

I too have eaten a banana everyday since sending on that message, although a dietitian in my choir says that the information is exaggerated. I apologize for sending on misinformation, however I am convinced that bananas ARE very good for you.

Thank you Lindsay for giving us a way to communicate more and to keep up with each other's lives. I will have fun with it, however, I just want to clarify that as I understand it, anyone can view this blog. So we will need to be mindful of maintaining all the family secrets!!!!

I send my peace and love to all the many blessed family members out there that mean so much to me!! (Oh, hi to the rest of you too.)

Can you hear me now?

Hey all! I am blogging! I am with it!
I am cool! Thanks, Lindsay for getting us talking. You know what a difficult time we have with that! Maybe some of the others besides the Simon girls will actually be able to get a word in edgewise. I have one week of teaching, an all school picnic, where I lead 100 children in songs we sang over the entire year (none of which they remember!) and then one week of cleaning up the school, and then I am done. I feel like I'm starting to wind down, and it feels good. Today was the last time the choir sang, so no more Wed. rehearsals. Yay, although I really love to sing in the WPC choir.
How's everybody else doin'?

First post

Hey Hey! Testing testing, 123!

This begins the blog of the Simon family. What's up with everybody? I am at work.

Now I am going to eat a banana. They are very good for you, or so Betsy's email would say.
