#12 is no longer in my mouth : (

Hi Everyone,

I'm up at 3:30 a.m. because my mouth hurts. You see, I had my tooth extracted yesterday. The generic vicadin should kick in any moment. The bad news is I look like a witch...the good news is that the horrible infection that was eating away at the bone in my gums is gone.

Perhaps this is the final step to that will lift my depression to a point where I can find energy to keep up with my house work.

Implant or Bridge??? the next hurdle!!!

Love, Betsy

  • Oh, Bets, I'm sorry that you had a rough time! I overslept this morning, and didn't walk. So I checked the blog, and read of your unhappy time. But there might be a silver lining(filling?)because that infection might just have been playing havoc in your body for a long time. I hope that this will make a big difference for you!

  • YES! In October I had an emergency root canal done, and after that I was just so . . . . NOT UNHAPPY. . . In hindsight, that nagging little pain just played havoc with my moods for months. I had a cavity filled in August and it was supposed to stop "being tender" for possibly a month or two. Well, I just learned to live with it and frankly EVERYTHING annoyed me. It was just so hard to WANT to do anything, or EAT anything etc. I'll bet you'll feel emotionally much better (just as soon as you are physically better). Give it time, but I remember the first time I chewed on that side without a little wince, and I was just so . . . HAPPY.

SO sorry for your current pain. It sounds just awful. What finally brought you in to the dentist and what was the diagnosis? How long were you in pain?

Remember that Grandma Potton had a peg tpoth that only hurt when she was pregnant and that's why she threw up for nine months and had to be hospitalized while pregnant with mom? It didn't bother her when she wasn't pregnant, but I wonder how her moods were?

COURAGE. . . there's a light at the end of the rainbow. . . or something like that. . .

  • So how many of us counted our teeth?

  • Start counting on the upper right side. Include your wisdom teeth. #12 is the tooth after the eye tooth on the left side.

The pain of a gum infection began for me in mid February. Our new insurance began on March 1st. So I lived with it until I could get in on March 6th. Swishing with HOT salt water helped alot and a lot of the pain was gone.

The tooth was probably cracked and this caused the infection. It quickly ate away much of the bone. They were all amazed. It is just this one tooth. The remaining teeth are PERFECT!!

  • MAN, how did you survive that? AGONY!

I would just like to take this occasion to once again point out how much I blame republicans for so much of the PAIN in the world. NEVER forget how they killed Clinton's Universal Health Care because they just HATED Hilary - (think Bob Dole, Newt Gingrich - oh yeah and how come WE knew that he was a philanderer back then but no else did? SHOCKED, THEY'RE JUST SHOCKED)

Our sweet Betsy could have gone in right away and would still have all her "bones" if we had gotten NHI back then, like the rest of the "civilized" world (nice term huh?)

But I digress, (so unlike me). . .

    BETSY YOU WERE VERY BRAVE!

    Love,
    Deebs
