It's a Christmas Miracle!

Hi All,
In the midst of all the craziness and sadness on the news, insane days at school, Holiday Happenings, etc. etc., we in Madison have been trying to save Air America from being cancelled on theMic, our local radio station. We emailed, petitioned, called, went to a huge rally, etc. etc. and this morning, we found out that once again, YES, "a small group of concerned citizens can change the world - indeed it's the only thing that ever has" - (Margaretn Meade). They have just announced that due to the large response (way over 5,000 signatures, (I was #113), they will not be changing to Fox Sports on January 1st! WE ARE ALL ELATED!

Just had to share the fabulous news. . . . !

Happy Shopping! (and stay out of the malls, it will be filled with crazed teachers)

Love ya all,
Deboe Blue Jean

  • Hey "Donner" - (I'm assuming that it's our sweet DON - think Carolyn Carolers) - Welcome to the Family Blog! Anyway, I failed to mention that this would have been the THIRD Fox Sports radio channel in Madison, specializing in High School Girls Volleyball. As I said in my comment to the station manager, "My brother is John Simon, whose Tosa East High School Volleyball Team just won the State Volleyball Championship and he was chosen Coach of the Year. Of course I would have LOVED to hear those games on the radio - I love volleyball - BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF LISTENING TO AIR AMERICA - the ONLY Progressive Talk Radio show in America".

1% of all talk Radio Shows! Did you guys know that there is a movement to get Air America in Milwaukee?

And for the record, I do NOT like everything on the station - I even think that they are too liberal sometimes! BUT I could not have gotten out of bed after the 2004 election without them. Seriously. I would HATE to start my week without Jesse Jackson on Sunday morning giving his SO thoughtful, always hopeful, Christian perspective on current events. He is truly a hero of mine. Did you all see the picture of him crying with Andrew Young at the dedication of the MLK memorial? That bullet wizzed by HIS head when it hit Martin. He was just a young man and can you imagine how that felt? On so many levels. And he was so even handed to Michael Richards (Kramer) after that awful tirade. It truly made me cry. And then there's Al Franken (who's AGAIN entertaining the troops right now), and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (environmental issues - amazing), etc. etc.

You would all love it - not all of it - but most of it. Google that web site!

Back to shopping - or at least eating breakfast.

    Love ya all,
    Deboe B. J.
