Talk amongst ourselves

I've had better Mondays

So, I generally don't like Mondays to begin with, but this one was really nasty. Work was pretty hectic with a lot of catch-up work being done, which is understandable considering that I have Fridays off, so after a long day, I then went right home as we were meeting with our realtor to discuss lowering the price on the duplex since not many are looking at it. And that whole chapter is depressing no matter how you look at it. Enough said. Well, as I am gathering my purse to head over to the duplex, I notice that my purse is without my wallet/checkbook. Panic creeps in and I wonder if I had it when I went to work this morning. Think, think, think...did I leave it at Simons the night before? No, because I entered all the ATM slips after we got home. I must have forgotten to put it in my purse and went to work without it. After tearing the house apart, letting our realtor know why I wasn't there yet, and calling Jim who had forgotten about our meeting, I realize my wallet is not at home. I called work and asked them to look around my work station in case it fell out. Nothing. Starting to freak out. Go to meeting with our realtor and decide to lower the price to see if that generates new interest. Didn't want to do that, but if we want to sell it, we need to. (So far in Wauwatosa for 2008, 4 duplexes total have sold in our price range. Not the kind of news we were looking for.) Anyway, so after the meeting Jim and I drive back to my work and search everywhere, in trash bins, hallways. Nothing. We go home, look everywhere again, and then I sit down with the phone and start making some phone calls. First call to the bank. I explain the situation, and she puts me on hold. She comes back and asks me if I made three gas purchases between 12:45 and 1:45 today at the same gas station on 55th & Lisbon. Oh, sh*t, now it's official. I'm screwed. My wallet was stolen out of my purse at work when I was not looking. There were 4 other transactions on another credit card, but I don't know the details of those yet. So, after many phone calls, a trip to the West Allis Police Department, and huge inconveniences, I now have a duplicate drivers license and a new book of checks to call my own. Nothing more. My purse is very light now. The loser stole all my pictures, all my appointment cards, library card, sam's card, pick n save card, barnes & noble gift card, and the worst of all...my 1982 ticket stub from the brewers pennant race, and my tiny piece of wax/toilet paper from England. Now how will I be able to spark a conversation with people I don't know???? Oh well, after all is said and done, there is one bright side to the crappy story...my new drivers license picture is way better than the old one.

So, how was your Monday?

  • What kind of an organization do you work for?

STOLEN AT WORK? DON'T YOU WORK FOR THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH?

There really are no words. You had a REALLY bad day. If it helps at all, I did too, but NOTHING like yours. SO, YOU'RE THE WINNER!

See? There are many bright sides! AND, you realized you lost it pretty fast. . . . That's good too.

Love ya a WHOLE, WHOLE LOT and today WILL be better!

(wax toilet paper in your wallet?)
